Meetings & Activities
We ask that you stay for all activities in order to supervise
your children. Each family is responsible for their own safety and well-being
during NHE activities. You are encouraged to use appropriate safety equipment
when engaging in activities such as bicycling, roller blading, roller
hockey, etc.
Friday
Park Day
When: Every Friday afternoon (time varies)
WHERE: Heritage Park or John Slidell Park in Slidell, Louisiana
WHAT: Park Day is where homeschool parents and children gather to play,
discuss homeschooling and other aspects of our lives. It is where we socialize
and meet friends.
Presentation Day
WHEN: Every third Friday of each month at 10:00
WHERE: Location varies.
WHAT: A forum where each child can present things that they have learned.
Older children often play an instrument, present a report, or tell about
something they have learned. The younger children have in the past recited
their ABC's, read a small book to everyone, or sang a song. It is a chance
for our homeschool students to share what they have accomplished. No one
is required to present.
Monthly
Parents' Meeting
WHEN: Every second Monday of each month at 7:00.
WHERE: Belair Community Center in Slidell
WHAT: Each month has a homeschooling discussion theme. We also discuss
ideas for monthly activities and events.
Field
Trips
WHEN: Varies. Parents organize them
WHERE: Louisiana & Mississippi
WHAT: Cultural events, plays, museums, etc.
